Garage Keepers’ Lien

A garage keepers’ lien gives anyone who has done work on motor vehicles or farm equipment a method to collect money owed to them for labour and materials used to repair the vehicle.

According to the Garage Keepers’ Lien Act anyone who does work on a motor vehicle or farm vehicle is able to file a lien up to and including the value of your invoice including labour, parts and reasonable storage.

A Garage Keepers’ Lien must be registered at the Personal Property Office within 21 days of the work being completed.
