Builders’
Filing a builder’s lien lets both your customer and the property owner know you are serious about getting paid. Once a lien is registered, it will hold up the release of any funds (i.e. project draws) and it can prevent the sale or transfer of the property.
In BC you have 45 days from the date of substantial completion of the project to register your lien claim. If you have provided work after substantial completion your lien deadline is calculated 45 days from the last on site, date of last supply or date of abandonment to file a builders’ lien.
To file a lien you must have:
Your lien is valid for one year from the date your lien is registered. After one year your lien will expire unless you have commenced legal action to perfect your claim prior to expiry.
Use the online form below to file for our Regular BC Business Intelligence providing your claim is between day 1 to day 39 of the lien deadline. You will also find a PDF form below if you prefer to file offline.
NOTE: if your claim is between day 40 to day 45 of the lien deadline then you should use our Rush - BC Business Intelligence Services
